PERRYSBURG, Ohio (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden is heading to an Ohio solar plant to talk about the state of manufacturing and plans to create more green factory jobs.
Biden's trip will take him Tuesday to the headquarters of the Willard & Kelsey Solar Group in Perrysburg near Toledo.
The company plans to begin large-scale production this year of its thin-film solar panels.
The area in Ohio that Biden will visit has been hit hard by job losses in the auto industry, and now is banking on the solar industry.
There are close to 10 companies that are turning Toledo into a research hub for converting sunlight into energy.
President Barack Obama has set goals of increasing U.S. electricity production from renewable sources including solar.
